REP UKPONG-UDO EMERGES APC CANDIDATE FOR IKONO/INI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY AFTER PRIMARIES VICTORY

The Member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-udo, PhD, has been declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the successful conduct of the party’s House of Representatives primaries held on Friday, May 16, 2026.

The primaries, conducted across all 21 ward centres in Ikono and Ini Local Government Areas, recorded massive participation by party delegates, stakeholders, and members, which reflected strong grassroots engagement within the party. At the end of the exercise, Rep. Ukpong-udo secured a total of 29,065 votes, emerging overwhelmingly as the APC flagbearer for the 2027 general elections.

Party officials and observers widely described the process as peaceful, transparent, and credible, commending the orderly conduct of participants and the maturity displayed throughout the exercise.

Reacting to his victory, Rep. Ukpong-udo expressed deep appreciation to party leaders, delegates, and supporters for the confidence reposed in him. He noted that the outcome represents not just a personal victory, but a collective affirmation of a shared vision for sustained development, inclusive representation, and people-centred governance in Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency.

He particularly praised the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, and the Senate President, Dr Godswill Akpabio, GCON, for their leadership and commitment to unity and fairness within the APC.

The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to consolidating ongoing empowerment initiatives, expanding opportunities for youths and women, and delivering more impactful constituency projects. He also assured constituents of continued responsive representation anchored on accessibility, accountability, and service.

Rep. Ukpong-udo further called for unity among party members, urging stakeholders to work collectively towards securing victory for all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
Stakeholders across Ikono and Ini LGAs reaffirmed their support for the party and its candidate, expressing confidence in the APC’s chances at the polls. The successful conduct of the primaries was an encouraging sign of the party’s commitment to transparency and unity as it positions itself for victory in 2027.
