NCCE Commends MOC-LLC USA, Dr. Mfon Okpok for Donating AI, Machine Learning Infrastructure
The National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) has commended MOC-LLC USA and its Chief Scientist, Dr. Mfon Okpok, for donating a Linux based Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) server to support digital transformation and teacher education in Nigeria.
In a letter of appreciation dated July 28, 2026, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Angela Ajala, praised the initiative, describing it as a significant contribution to the integration of emerging technologies into teacher education.
The AI and Machine Learning infrastructure was presented during the recently concluded International Conference on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence hosted by Akwa Ibom State College of Education, Afaha Nsit.
The donation will benefit the NCCE and three Colleges of Education namely the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Lagos; FCT College of Education, Zuba, Abuja; and Akwa Ibom State College of Education, Afaha Nsit.
According to the Commission, the infrastructure will strengthen ongoing efforts to promote Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, digital transformation, educational research, teacher capacity development and technology driven innovation across colleges of education in the country.
The Commission noted that the platform will improve the quality of teacher education while supporting national initiatives aimed at integrating Artificial Intelligence into Nigeria’s education system.
Dr. Ajala also reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to sustaining its partnership with MOC-LLC and welcomed the team back to Nigeria in November for the deployment of additional AI and Machine Learning infrastructure at the Commission’s headquarters and the FCT College of Education, Zuba.
Reacting to the recognition, Dr. Mfon Okpok described the Commission’s appreciation as an encouragement to deepen efforts aimed at expanding Artificial Intelligence research and innovation across Africa.
“Our vision is to make advanced Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics and interdisciplinary research accessible to universities and colleges across Africa. By deploying offline AI laboratories, interactive simulators and research platforms, we aim to empower educators and students to solve real world African challenges through innovation,” he said.
Dr. Okpok explained that the initiative is part of the broader Machine Learning and AI Driven Applied Interdisciplinary Research Programme being implemented in partnership with educational institutions in Nigeria, Ethiopia and other African countries.
He said the programme is focused on building local capacity through AI laboratories, interactive learning environments, graduate research training and technology transfer.
The latest recognition underscores the growing collaboration between the National Commission for Colleges of Education and MOC-LLC USA in advancing Artificial Intelligence driven teaching, learning and research in Nigeria’s colleges of education.
