Leadership is best measured not only by titles held, but by sacrifices made, loyalty demonstrated, and the courage to stand firm when it matters most. For Dr. Idongesit Nta Wilson, these values have defined his enduring relationship with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the people of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency.
Long before his political ambition became a subject of public discourse, Dr. Wilson had already established himself as a committed party man who invested time, resources, and personal comfort to ensure the survival and growth of the party at the grassroots level.
At a time when the party faced operational challenges in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Dr. Wilson stepped in decisively by providing a befitting Chapter Party Office complex, ensuring that the APC maintained a visible, functional presence and a rallying point for members.
His intervention significantly boosted the morale of party executives and members during a critical period. The facility itself reflects his vision and commitment, featuring two large halls with seating capacities of over 200 and 150 persons, respectively, as well as office spaces for key party officials. It created a conducive environment for coordination, planning, and effective party administration.
Understanding the financial barriers that often discourage participation in party processes, he went further to fund the procurement of nomination forms for APC councillorship candidates during the last local government elections. an election cycle in which the party operated from a position of opposition, within a system widely acknowledged for its structural disadvantages.
In that same election, Dr. Wilson played a pivotal role in validating the Chairmanship candidacy by facilitating the procurement of the Vice Chairmanship nomination form, thereby ensuring the completeness and legitimacy of the party’s ticket. He also took responsibility for securing tax clearance for candidates whose forms were procured, removing administrative hurdles that could have hindered their participation.
Perhaps most remarkably, at a time when many were hesitant due to the realities surrounding local government elections in Nigeria, Dr. Wilson demonstrated uncommon courage and conviction by committing his personal resources to support the party’s participation. While others chose to stand back, he chose to stand firm by investing not just money, but belief in the future of the party.
His support also extended to funding stakeholders’ meetings and engagements across Ikot Abasi LGA. Through these efforts, he strengthened grassroots mobilization, improved coordination, and deepened engagement among party members.
Beyond these visible contributions, Dr. Wilson has consistently:
• Mobilized support for party activities across communities
• Encouraged youth participation and inclusion in politics
• Promoted peace, unity, and cooperation among party stakeholders
His approach to politics is rooted in service, sacrifice, and sustainability. He understands that strong political institutions are not built only during election seasons, but through continuous investment in people and structures.
Today, as he seeks to represent the people Ikot Abasi federal constituency , Dr. Wilson’s track record within the APC speaks clearly of his loyalty, capacity, and readiness to serve. He is not new to the struggle, he is someone who has contributed to building, sustaining, and strengthening the very foundation upon which future successes will stand.
