Etinan Chairman hands over renovated hospital months after water project
The Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Uko Umoh, has handed over a renovated primary health centre to residents of Ndon Utim community in Urban Ward 2 in Etinan.
The ceremony held yesterday Monday 30th September 2025 drew traditional rulers, community leaders and council officials, who praised the intervention as a long-awaited boost for a community that has faced years of poor access to healthcare.

In a welcome address, Supervisor for Health, Hon. Emmanuel Sampson, said the project would help cut maternal and child mortality, improve routine immunisation and provide timely treatment for common illnesses.
Mr Umoh urged the community to take ownership of the facility, stressing the need to protect it for the benefit of all.
He also encouraged residents to register in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise, while commending the state government’s ARISE Agenda for prioritising healthcare.
Village Head, Chief Joshua Fred Otong, thanked the chairman, recalling that he had earlier delivered a water project to the community. “We will stand behind you in the future,” he told the gathering.
Vice Chairman, Imaobong Michael, described the renovation as a vital step for a community that had “endured years of political neglect”, particularly in times of emergency.
Facility staff representative, Ekereobong Daniel Ikobo, welcomed the project but appealed for further support, including solar power for vaccine storage, water connection and perimeter fencing to secure the centre.
