Champion Breweries completes acquisition of Bullet brand portfolio
Champion Breweries has announced the completion of its acquisition of the Bullet brand portfolio, in what the company describes as a defining moment in its strategic transformation.
The transaction was finalised following regulatory approvals and the signing of closing documentation, culminating in a ceremony held in Brussels. Bullet is now formally part of Champion Breweries’ portfolio.
The company, which is listed on the Nigerian Exchange, said the deal marks a significant step in its ambition to build a diversified, high growth and globally competitive beverage business.
For nearly five decades, Champion Breweries has operated as a publicly listed company in Nigeria, building what it calls a reputation for quality, resilience and operational discipline. With the acquisition, it is seeking to expand into new and faster growing categories.
Bullet Black is currently the leading ready to drink alcoholic beverage in Nigeria, according to the company, while Bullet Blue ranks among the country’s top energy drink brands.
Bullet operates in more than 14 African markets, giving Champion Breweries immediate scale beyond its home base and a broader platform for continental expansion.
The company also pointed to the financial structure of the business, noting that Bullet’s foreign exchange denominated revenues are expected to strengthen its balance sheet and support long term value creation.
Champion Breweries said the acquisition would unlock synergies across distribution, supply chain and product innovation, positioning the enlarged group for accelerated growth across Africa and potentially further afield.
In a statement, the company thanked shareholders, regulators, advisers and partners for their support in completing the deal.
With Bullet now integrated into its brand family, Champion Breweries said it remains committed to building what it describes as a resilient, diversified and globally competitive beverage company.
“The future is Champion,” the statement concluded.
