Akwa Ibom Royal Fathers Confer Chieftaincy Title On President Tinubu

The Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers on-behalf of the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State have conferred a chieftaincy title of Otu-Ekong Akwa Ibom on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.


Oku Ibom Ibibio/ President General of the Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, CFR conferred the title on Tinubu when the governor, Pastor Umo Eno led a delegation of Akwa Ibom stakeholder on a visit to the President over the weekend.


Etuk said the prestigious honor was a testament to the President’s commitment to the development of Akwa Ibom State and the nation at large.


He noted that the decision to honour the president was in reciprocating his kind gesture for Akwa Ibom people, adding that it also underscores the strong relationship between the A’Ibom Royal Fathers and the federal government.


The Royal father used the occasion to commend the President for taking bold and courageous steps towards rebuilding the economy for a better life for the people through his Renewed Hope Agenda, and urged him to remain focused and undaunted.


“Mr President, Let us also use this occasion to thank you for giving Akwa Ibom State a sense of belonging and a pride of place in your administration.

Firstly, by supporting our son, His Excellency Obong Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, to emerge as the Senate President, thus becoming the No. 3 man in the country. We thank you also for the appointment of Hon. Obong Ekperikpe Ekpo, as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, (Gas) and for other appointments, these, we are indebted to you for your show of magnanimity.

“With emphatic note, our council is much appreciative of the cordiality and full cooperation you have extended to our amiable Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, in his governance of Akwa Ibom State, despite the differences in political platform.

We have also noted the favorable disposition of mutual cooperation with the First Lady of the nation, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, who has seamless collaboration with the office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State in the implementation of her pet project, the Renewed Hope Initiative. Such gestures has helped to grow a healthy socio-economic and political atmosphere for development”, Etuk said.

He said, “your love for our people and state has given us further hope that some outstanding issues of development and pressing needs in our state will certainly attract your favorable attention and action”


The Oku Ibom Ibibio solicited the support the President for the actualization Ibom deep sea port to serve as a trans-shipment hub for large vessels to further boost the Nigeria economy.
While commending Tinubu for the Lagos-Calabar Costal highway project, Etuk, expressed their eagernees to see it connectivity to Akwa Ibom state and its utmost completion.


The Royal father requested the extension of Rail way service to Akwa Ibom for the state to also enjoy “this very important means of transportation like other state in the Federation”


He also solicited the administration of Tinubu to ensure the upgrade of Nigeria Premier Maritime academy into a university.


The President General pleaded that Tinubu direct that appropriate action be taken to complete construction of the East-West Road.
“Same goes for the Calabar Itu Highway which for years this strategic road has been a source of concern due to it deplorable condition despite assurance by successive administration to reconstruct the highway, we hope that the administration we come to our aid in seeing to the completion of the highway in reality.


“Our beloved President, by your exalted position, you are a father to all Nigerians irrespective of religious or political affiliation. In Akwa Ibom State -despite having another political party in governance, we love and admire you, and count you as one of our own. You have so far given us reasons to trust your and stand by you now and in the future”, he said.


Etuk used the occasion to appeal to the prasident whatever political differences that may have occurred between the duo of Senate President, His Excellency Obong Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, and the immediate past governor, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.
“We urge you to accept this request for the sake of brotherhood, peace, unity and mutual coexistence of the people of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria in general


“We wish to assure you that having taken us as your own, through inclusivity in governance, we have equally taken you as our own.
