Mandate Eyes Dismisses Criticism of Umo Eno Administration, Cites Ongoing Projects and Public Support
The Mandate Eyes, a political advocacy group in Akwa Ibom State, has dismissed criticisms of the state government by a social media commentator known as “PAPA-J”, describing the claims as unsubstantiated and lacking factual basis.
In a press release issued on Tuesday and signed by its Director of Public and Strategic Communications, Micheal Okon, the group said the criticisms directed at the administration of Governor Umo Eno do not reflect the realities on ground, arguing that they stem from frustration rather than objective assessment of governance in the state.
The group maintained that Governor Eno’s leadership has enjoyed wide public acceptance across Akwa Ibom State, citing what it described as broad endorsements and growing support driven by the administration’s emphasis on unity and inclusive governance. According to Mandate Eyes, such acceptance is a reflection of democratic choice rather than political imposition.
Highlighting ongoing and completed projects, the group pointed to developments in the health and infrastructure sectors, including the operational oxygen gas plant at Ituk Mbang Hospital, functional primary healthcare centres across local government areas, and several road projects at various stages of completion.
In Abak Local Government Area, where the critic is believed to originate, Mandate Eyes referenced the near completion of the Abak 10 road project, the completion and commissioning of the Ukpom Abak–Pepsi Junction Road, and ongoing work on the Ikot Ekan–Ediene Abak Road, as well as the completion of a model school on Hospital Road.
The group also addressed criticisms surrounding the state’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) bus initiative, describing concerns about a time gap between the arrival of buses and the completion of the service station as minor when viewed within the broader framework of project execution. It said the transport project is being implemented with clear timelines and technical planning to ensure long-term benefits for residents.
Mandate Eyes stressed that while constructive criticism is an essential part of democratic governance, it should be grounded in facts and aimed at contributing to development rather than undermining public confidence. The group said the Umo Eno administration remains committed to transparency, accountability and effective service delivery.
According to the statement, the Akwa Ibom government is focused on sustaining progress and improving the quality of life of residents through what it described as results-driven leadership, adding that public support for the administration continues to grow as projects are delivered across the state.
