IKOT EKPENE STAKEHOLDERS AFFIRM KUFRE OKURE AS POLITICAL LEADER
…begin tour of political wards tomorrow
Political stakeholders in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area have unanimously affirmed Adede Kufre Inima Okure as the new political leader of the area.
The endorsement was made during a meeting attended by key figures from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including members of the APC Chapter Executive, the APC Women Leaders Forum, the APC Ward Chairmen Forum, and other political stakeholders from across the 12 wards of Ikot Ekpene.
Setting the tone for the meeting, Prince Samuel Ukut, a former House of Assembly Aspirant, conveyed what he described as the collective position of stakeholders across party lines, noting that the endorsement of Mr Okure popularly known as “Kokoti” cuts across party affiliations.
Other speakers, including Prince Ubong Etim, Mr Utibe Mathew Ibanga, and several ward representatives, spoke in strong support of the decision, praising Mr Okure’s leadership qualities and grassroots connection.
In his response, Mr Okure expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and called for unity among political actors in the area. He emphasised the importance of supporting the administration of Governor Umo Eno, describing it as a key step towards development in Ikot Ekpene.
Meanwhile, a communiqué issued at the end of the strategic meeting and endorsed by over 70 political stakeholders across Ikot Ekpene called on all indigenes of the area to unite behind Adede Kufre Okure in his new role.
“All indigenes of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area should rally round our new political leader, Adede Kufre Okure, to enable him succeed in his office,” the statement read in part.
To further consolidate support, a ward-to-ward tour has been scheduled to brief local communities on the recent political developments, including the defection of Governor Umo Eno and the alignment of political structures in the state.
The tour will begin on Wednesday, 12 June, covering Wards 1, 3, and 4. It will continue on Thursday, 13 June, with visits to Wards 5, 6, and 7, followed by Wards 9, 10, and 11 on Saturday, 14 June. The final leg of the tour will take place on Monday, 16 June, covering Wards 2, 8, and 12.
