Governor Eno to construct ultra modern AKBC studio,says Information Commissioner
… pledges effective collaboration with RATAWU
Akwa Ibom State State Commissioner of Information, Hon Aniekan Umanah has assured Radio Television Theatre & Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATAWU) of cooperation and support, reaffirming his commitment to the media community in the state.
The Honorable Commissioner made the commitment during a courtesy visit of the State Exco of RATAWU to his office on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
He commended RATAWU for its contributions to promoting the activities of the governor and encouraged them to disseminate the gospel of the ARISE Agenda through their different media outlets.
Umanah reiterated the ARISE Agenda as a comprehensive blueprint for grassroots development and economic transformation which aims to address key challenges like youth unemployment, healthcare accessibility and agricultural improvement with focus on empowering small scale farmers.
The commissioner announced to the union the intention of Governor Umo Eno to flag-off the construction of a new ultra-modern AKBC complex, complete with a state of the art studio this month, and promised that when completed, the facility will rank as one of the best in the country.
Speaking earlier, RATAWU’s Acting Chairman, Comrade Macben Joe felicitated Hon. Umanah on his appointment as commissioner and commended him for his professionalism and efficacy since assumption of office. He described Umanah as a perfect fit for the role and described his appointment as a worthy return to familiar terrain having served two former governors in same capacity.
The chairman reiterated the wish of the Union to have a befitting edifice for RATAWU having operated in rented office for the past thirty eight years, requesting for assistance from the state government in that regard. With national RATAWU elections in the offing, the chairman also intimated the commissioner on the efforts of the Akwa Ibom State branch of RATAWU in having a representative in the national Exco and solicited state government’s support.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Akparawa James Edet acknowledged the resilience and dedication of RATAWU members in delivering information in the state. He however urged members of the union to do more to reciprocate state government’s untiring efforts in providing succor for the union members.
