Finally, Akwa Ibom State Government set to construct Use Ikot Amama Road

Akwa Ibom State Government has announced plans to construct Use Ikot Amama road in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
This was made known by the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Emembong in excerpts of State Executive Council meeting of yesterday 19th November 2025.
Use Ikot Amama has been gaining significant attention from both the government and the general public. The road project, initially started during the administration of former Governor Godswill Akpabio, has been left uncompleted for over a decade, with about 30 kilometers still undone.
Recently, the lawmaker representing Ibiono Ibom State constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon Moses Essien, urged Governor Umo Eno to revisit the abandoned Use Ikot Amama road project. The community has expressed concerns over the deplorable state of the road, citing its negative impact on the local economy and the daily lives of residents.
In response to the growing calls for action, Governor Umo Eno awarded the contract for the Construction of a 10.9km road with two 40m-span bridges spanning NSAID’s Use-Use Ikot Amama-Ibiaku Ikot Erica-Itong Nkwot Edem Edet in Ibiono Ibom and Ikono LGAs during Exco meeting.
Other contract awarded include 12.5km road spanning Ibesit-Ikot Oto-Ikot Ekpenyong-Ikot Akama-Itung-Ediene Attai-Ikot Ebak in Oruk Anam and Mkpat Enin LGAs, Construction of a 2.7km road from Nto Obio Akpan-Ikot Obong-Urua Akpan in Essien Udim LGA, and a 2km road from Ikot Uso-Udo Atan-Nto Obodem Mbiaso in Ikot Ekpene LGA, Re-award of the 21.5km Ikot Ayan Ediene-Ikot Nita-Urua Naira-Ikot Nseyen-Nkwot-Nnung Ukim road, including a 45m-span bridge, in Ikono LGA, 2km access road to the School of Health Technology in Etinan LGA and 7.7km road, including State Housing Road with spur, Ikot Obiokpon/Ibong Road with spur, and Mount Zion Road with spurs in Ikot Ekpene LGA.
