Dudu Foundation to Empower Physically Challenged, Students

The Dudu Foundation has announced plans to empower persons with disabilities and school students in Akwa Ibom State through a three-day programme beginning Wednesday, September 17, at the Ati Annang Secretariat.

Speaking on the initiative, the Executive Director of the Foundation, Lady Edu Anthony Offong , said the project is designed to support physically challenged individuals who are often neglected in the society.

NewsNectarNG reports that the foundation, in partnership with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Office of the Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio, will donate 40 wheelchairs, 40 crutches, 45 Point of Sale (POS) machines with starter packs, as well as clothing items.

Some members of the physically challenged will also receive training in soap-making and other small-scale enterprises to help them become self-reliant.

Offong added that free medical services would be provided during the exercise, with a team of medical experts already in town for the outreach.

She noted that the empowerment targets physically challenged persons across Akwa Ibom State, selected through the foundation’s social media platforms.

In addition, the foundation will donate school bags, shoes, and clothes to over 50 students across different schools in the state, an act, the Executive Director said has been its long-standing support for educational development.

Those interested in the project can check their website Dudu Foundation and social media pages for registration details
