Akwa Ibom trade commissioner vows to boost investment and support small businesses
The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Capt Iniobong Ekong, has pledged to drive policies that will unlock economic potential, support small businesses and position the state as a leading investment destination.
Speaking during a meeting with journalists, Capt Ekong said his ministry was committed to advancing Governor Umo Eno’s Arise Agenda, which he described as a pragmatic and people-centred blueprint for development.
He expressed gratitude to the governor for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the ministry, stressing that his focus would be on facilitating investments that promote local content, value addition and industrialisation.
“Our mission is clear, to support MSMEs, create an enabling environment for small businesses, and build productive partnerships with the private sector and development institutions,” he said.
Capt Ekong added that the ministry’s targets were realistic and achievable, backed by policies and the political will of the administration.
He noted that trade and investment were critical pillars of the Arise Agenda, and his ministry occupied a central role in translating government aspirations into measurable economic growth, job creation and inclusive prosperity.
