Akwa Ibom Political Group CODE Backs Tinubu, Akpabio, and Eno for Second Term in 2027

The Coalition of Democrats (CODE), a socio-political organisation based in Akwa Ibom State, has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Bassey Eno, endorsing them for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement came during an enlarged extraordinary executive council meeting held on 24 April 2025 at Kiniz Hall in Uyo, the state capital. In a communiqué issued after the meeting, CODE praised the trio for what it described as “remarkable strides” in governance, development, and unity, calling their leadership a symbol of renewed hope and inclusive politics.
The group lauded President Tinubu for launching the Akwa Ibom section of the coastal highway project, a move they believe underscores the president’s commitment to economic reform and regional development. CODE also commended his appointments of Akwa Ibom indigenes to strategic federal positions, most notably the Minister of State for Gas, Rt. Hon. Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo.
CODE further applauded the collaborative governance between Senate President Akpabio and Governor Eno, describing it as a “superlative and purposeful partnership” that transcends party lines for the benefit of the state. They praised Eno’s leadership for promoting unity and development through his ARISE Agenda and political bridge-building.
In a notable show of bipartisan consensus, CODE expressed full support for Governor Eno’s endorsement of President Tinubu’s second term bid, and likewise threw its support behind Senator Akpabio for another term as Senate President.
The organisation also used the platform to appeal for expedited action on several long-standing infrastructural and economic projects in the state, including the Ibom Deep Seaport, the Calabar-Itu highway, and the reactivation of the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) in Ikot Abasi.
Signed by CODE’s Chairman, Rt. Hon. Barrister Usenobong Akpabio, and Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Dr. Usoro Akpanusoh, the communiqué ended with a rallying call for political unity and inclusive governance across party lines in Akwa Ibom and Nigeria.
