A group of fitness coaches is set to host the 2025 edition of the Independence Fitness Festival (IFF), an annual gathering of fitness and exercise enthusiasts from all walks of life. The event is designed to promote healthy living through fitness awareness.

Addressing select media houses, the progenitor of IFF, Pastor Saviour Inyang, popularly known as the Fitness Apostle, disclosed that new initiatives have been introduced to make this year’s festival even more special. He also urged members of the public to register free of charge.

The Fitness Apostle revealed that this year’s event will hold on October 4 at  Flaimore Event Centre, Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo, starting at 6:00 a.m. The theme is “Boost Your Fitness, Empower Your Health.”

He further explained that attendance at the annual event has grown remarkably since its inception. In the first edition, fewer than 50 participants attended. By the second season, the figure rose to about 350. The third edition drew over 500 people, marking a turning point for the organisers. Last year’s festival surpassed expectations with about 1,500 attendees. This year, organisers are preparing for an even larger turnout, with provisions already made to accommodate overflow attendance.

Giving his remarks, the Director of Marketing and Brand Management, Mr. Maurice Aniefon, described the initiative as a charity-driven project aimed at raising awareness that “fitness is wellness.”

Since joining the project at its third anniversary, Mr. Aniefon noted that it has been sustained entirely by volunteers, with more than 60 people offering their services without pay. This strong spirit of volunteerism, he added, has kept the project alive and fueled its exponential growth.

The highlight of the press briefing was the unveiling of the official festival insignia and customised T-shirts.

Join us on October 4.
