EMMANUEL FRIDAY BEN EMERGES LABOUR PARTY GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE IN AKWA IBOM
Emmanuel Friday Ben has emerged as the Labour Party’s consensus candidate for the Akwa Ibom State governorship election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ben was adopted as the party’s flagbearer during the Labour Party governorship primary election held in the state and monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Mrs. Vivian Olalipo.
Speaking at the exercise, party officials explained that the consensus option was adopted in line with electoral guidelines after Emmanuel Ben emerged as the sole aspirant to purchase and submit nomination forms for the governorship position.
The primary election was conducted peacefully, with party stakeholders affirming their support for the consensus arrangement and expressing confidence in the candidate’s ability to lead the party into the 2027 governorship contest.
Following his emergence, Ben thanked party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work with stakeholders across the state to strengthen the Labour Party and present a viable alternative to the electorate in the next election cycle.
