UMO ENO EMERGES APC GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE, THANKS AKWA IBOM VOTERS
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections following what he described as overwhelming support across the 369 wards in the state.
In a statement titled “Successful Nomination as Akwa Ibom State APC Gubernatorial Candidate: A Note of Appreciation,” the governor thanked party members and residents for what he called their collective decision to support continuity, peace, unity and development in the state.
“You overwhelmingly voted to nominate me as the All Progressives Congress’ Candidate for Governor in the 2027 elections, so we may finish the work we collectively started on May 29, 2023,” the governor stated.
Eno expressed appreciation to stakeholders of the party, including women, youths, students, political groups, civil society organisations, the clergy and traditional institutions for their support during the primaries.
He also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a fatherly role since his political alignment with the APC, noting that the President’s support had been “wonderful and deeply appreciated.”
The governor further commended Senate President Godswill Akpabio for sustaining a partnership aimed at promoting peace, unity and the advancement of Akwa Ibom State’s interests.
He equally praised the APC State Chairman, Stephen Ntukekpo, members of the APC Primaries Election Committee led by Hon. Nwofe Alexander, and the Local Primaries Planning Committee headed by Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, for conducting what he described as a transparent exercise.
Governor Eno urged politicians in the state to embrace issue-based politics and avoid actions capable of heating up the polity, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and order across the state.
