Umo Eno Hails Aspirants Who Withdrew from APC Primaries, Promises Inclusivity
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has commended aspirants who voluntarily stepped down from the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in the state, describing their decision as a sacrifice made in the interest of party unity and peace.
The Governor spoke on Thursday night during a tour of the ARISE Palm Resort in Uyo, where he praised the aspirants for placing the collective interest of the party and the state above personal ambition.
According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, Governor Eno said the withdrawals should not be interpreted as weakness, but rather as a demonstration of political maturity, loyalty and respect for party leadership and internal harmony.
He assured that the affected aspirants would not be sidelined, disclosing that he would personally engage them on issues relating to inclusivity and participation within the party structure.
The Governor further emphasized that the party and government remained committed to recognising and rewarding sacrifices made in the interest of fairness, peace, unity and sustainable progress.
Governor Eno also urged party leaders at the local government and constituency levels to intensify reconciliation efforts ahead of the primaries and strengthen internal cohesion within the APC.
He advocated workable rotational arrangements that would promote broad participation, equity and inclusiveness in future elections, while reaffirming his commitment to sustaining a peaceful political atmosphere across Akwa Ibom State.
