ETINAN STAKEHOLDERS ADOPT ANIEKAN BASSEY, PAUL EKPO AS CONSENSUS CANDIDATES
-Assure President Tinubu, Governor Eno of support for second term
Stakeholders of Etinan local government area have adopted the Senator Aniekan Bassey, Obong Paul Ekpo as their consensus candidates for Uyo Senatorial District seat and Etinan/Nsit Ibom/ Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency.
The stakeholders’ meeting which was held at the Chairman’s residence in Etinan on May 5, 2026 had former and present political office holders in attendance.
Setting the tone for the event, the local government chairman, Hon. Uko Umoh commended the stakeholders for their support and tenacity, adding that it was time for them not to allow the negative past affects the collective mandate of the people.
The Executive Chairman revealed that the meeting was necessitated by the directive of Governor, warning the party leadership against toeing a different political line outside Governor’s directive.
At the end of the meeting, the following resolutions were reached:
“In recognition of his courageous leadership and foundational reforms, we hereby adopt, endorse, and declare His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR as the SOLE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE of Etinan Stakeholders for the 2027 General Elections. We pledge to deliver not less than 98% of total votes cast in Etinan LGA for his re-election.
“Having appraised his peaceful disposition, performance in office, and fatherly treatment of Etinan LGA, we unanimously adopt HIS EXCELLENCY PASTOR UMO BASSEY ENO, PhD as our SOLE GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE for 2027. We urge all sons and daughters of Etinan at home and in diaspora to support his second term.
“Based on verifiable performance, accessibility, and spread of projects, we adopt Distinguished Senator (Dr.) Aniekan Bassey as our sole senatorial candidate for 2027. We pass a Vote of Absolute Confidence in him and appeal to the APC National Working Committee to grant him right of first refusal.
“In appreciation of his quality representation and in line with the principle of returning performing legislators, we adopt Obong Hon. Obong Paul Ekpo as our sole candidate for the Federal House of Representatives, 2027. Etinan LGA stands by him.
“ We reaffirm our unalloyed loyalty to the All Progressives Congress under the leadership of H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, H.E. Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, and H.E. Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, PhD. (a.) All party members in Etinan LGA are hereby directed to subsume personal ambition under collective interest.”
