WORLD HERITAGE DAY: KAROSSY TRAVELS TAKES CENTER STAGE AS WOLE SOYINKA STORMS UYO

Karossy Travels and Tours Limited has taken a prominent role in the 2026 World Heritage Day celebration in Akwa Ibom State, sponsoring millions of naira in prizes as Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, delivers the keynote address today at the Tropicana Event Centre.
The event, held as part of the global observance of World Heritage Day on April 18, is being organized by the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Culture and Tourism in collaboration with the University of Uyo, under the theme “Akwa Ibom Heritage Alive.”
In alignment with the cultural preservation drive of Governor Umo Bassey Eno’s administration, Karossy Travels, an IATA-certified travel agency, is the sole sponsor of the storytelling competition prizes, one of the major highlights of the celebration.
According to the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia, winners of the competition will receive N1 million, N600,000, and N400,000 for first, second, and third places respectively, while 100 other participants will go home with N20,000 consolation prizes each.
Beyond its sponsorship role, Karossy Travels and Tours Limited is positioning itself as a key player in the state’s growing tourism ecosystem. The company offers a wide range of travel services, including international and domestic flight bookings, global hotel reservations, visa support, car hire, airport transfers, and guided tours, providing end-to-end travel solutions for individuals and corporate clients.
With the recent upgrade of Victor Attah International Airport to international status, Karossy Travels is also leveraging the expanded connectivity to link Akwa Ibom to major global destinations such as London, Paris, Dubai, and the United States, offering seamless and stress-free travel experiences.
Dr. Udofia noted that the choice of Wole Soyinka as keynote speaker underscores the significance of the event and reflects the state’s commitment to positioning itself as a cultural, historical, and intellectual hub.
He added that the celebration will feature a blend of storytelling, performances, exhibitions, and intellectual discourse, all aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Akwa Ibom while promoting tourism development.
The Commissioner also acknowledged the contributions of other partners, including Kenyon International West Africa Company Limited, Bulletine Construction Company, U&K Construction Company, Amitech Construction Company, and GAIS Engineering Ltd, for their support.
Commending Governor Eno for his dedication to cultural heritage preservation and tourism advancement, Dr. Udofia urged residents to actively participate in the celebration and embrace the shared responsibility of safeguarding the state’s cultural legacy.
