Akwa Ibom Govt Begins Treasury Single Account Implementation
The Akwa Ibom State Government has commenced the full implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) for all government revenues, effective January 1, 2026, as part of measures to strengthen transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline.
Governor Umo Eno announced this on Wednesday during his New Year address to the people of the state, marking the beginning of a new financial management regime across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
According to the governor, the TSA policy mandates that all government revenues be paid into a single consolidated account, from which expenditures will be made strictly in line with approvals contained in the 2026 budget. He emphasized that the era of MDAs independently generating and spending funds outside government oversight has come to an end.
Governor Eno said modalities for the TSA implementation have already been communicated through a circular issued by the Secretary to the State Government, adding that all MDAs are expected to comply fully. He warned that defaulters would face appropriate sanctions.
“The TSA regime will help consolidate our revenue and ensure that expenditures are run from one source as approved in our 2026 budget. The era of MDAs generating and spending funds outside the TSA is over,” the governor declared.
The TSA rollout forms part of the state government’s broader fiscal reforms under the ARISE Agenda, aimed at consolidating gains made in the last two and a half years and expanding development across all sectors of the state.
Governor Eno also reiterated his administration’s commitment to peace, infrastructure development, agriculture, healthcare, education, and social welfare, assuring Akwa Ibom people of sustained progress in the new year.
He called on citizens and stakeholders to continue supporting government policies geared towards sustainable growth, unity, and responsible governance.
