Youth Assembly Delegation Supports Fire Victim in Nsit Ibom
The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Nsit Ibom Chapter, has fulfilled a pledge to support a victim of a recent fire outbreak in Afaha Offiong, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, with the donation of a free architectural design to aid reconstruction efforts.
The fire incident, which occurred on November 30, 2025, left a family homeless and drew public attention following an earlier visit by the Speaker of the Youth Assembly, Hon. Arc. Emmanuel Godwin. During that visit, he pledged to provide professional support, including a free building design, to help the affected family rebuild.
On Tuesday, the Assembly, led by Hon. Godwin and accompanied by the National Ambassador of YAN representing Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Amb. Imo Imaha (JP), presented a three-bedroom bungalow architectural design, with all rooms en suite, to the victim, Mr. Ime Ikpatt. The gesture is expected to provide a crucial foundation for the reconstruction of the building destroyed by the fire.
The intervention, according to the Assembly, aligns with ongoing efforts by local and state authorities to promote compassionate and people-centred governance, consistent with the ARISE Agenda of Akwa Ibom State.
Several members of the Youth Assembly and associates were present during the presentation, including the YAN Speaker representing Ibesikpo, Hon. Faith Sunday, the Chief Protocol to the State Speaker, Mr. Ndongesit Effeh, and other officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon. Amb. Imo Imaha assured that the plight of the affected family would be escalated to relevant quarters, expressing hope that additional support would be mobilised. A family representative, who is a retired civil servant, said the destroyed building had served as accommodation for both family members and tenants, noting that the incident had significantly disrupted their livelihoods.
The Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Nsit Ibom Chapter, has appealed to well-meaning individuals, organisations and philanthropists within and outside Akwa Ibom State to extend support to the displaced family, stressing that collective effort is needed to restore hope and dignity.
The Assembly said the initiative reflects its mandate to contribute to nation-building through service, empathy and practical responses to community challenges.
